We've come across a new find from recent years - Afghan Lithium Quartz and it's absolutely phenomenal! Breaking down the minerals within these, we have quartz, lithium and hematite. The clesr quartz is surrounding by dark grey to light mauve tones with a sparkly outer layer. The quartz formation for these is typically laser points.
We spoke with our vendor in depth about this stunning lithium quartz find from Afghanistan and learned a few things:
This particular Quartz is mined from high up in the mountains in Badakhshan, Afghanistan. It is difficult to get up there due to the terrain and miners get access once a year.
Much of this material is crushed and processed away for the lithium content instead of keeping it in quartz form for mineral collecting.
Our vendor believes he is the first to bring this Afghan Lithium Quartz to the United States and we are very grateful to be able to carry it in our shop.
